You know that you can increase max brightness and sub brightness in the service menu?
By default, max brightness is set to parameter 201 (it can go up to 255), some users after increasing max brightness to 255 were able to see difference in contrast, etc…
I am not sure, I can see some differences, but also it could be placebo effect.
To enter service menu:
– turn off monitor, keep pressed button 1 and 3 (in order, under menu stick first button is 1), turn it on, release both buttons when screen is on and then press button 4.
You will see a small blue screen on the top left side of your monitor, you use menu dialer to go through options.

Hello. Does anyone know what the best sharpness setting for this monitor is? I know that no added sharpness can be 50 on some monitors.

Just a little update on the dell g2724d.

The rtings review and most of reddit reviews that had good reviews for the monitor (and were kind enough to respond to my question) are from the rev A00 model.

I tried 5 different Dell g2724d A01 rev panels, the backlight bleed was way too much. I had confirmed 2 DOA with the service centar, and eyeballed the rest (found a dead pixel on one of them).

So be advised, seems like they either had a factory defect with the A01 or they changed panels.

I opened mine that was manufactured in March 2024. It is rev A01 and still has the same panel, M270DAN08.C

New owner of a g2724d, rev 01 feb 2024. Default osd settings.

Reading though this thread I installed novideo_sRGB out of curiosity to see if it would make any difference to the colors. It actually does take away the slight over saturation and imo makes colors look way more natural.

I read that this monitor has 99% srgb coverage and as I have hdr disabled I searched google for “novideo_srgb on a non wide gamut display”. Google ai appeared with this result :

“Using novideo_srgb on a standard, non-wide gamut (sRGB) display is unnecessary and provides no benefit. The tool novideo_srgb is designed to clamp wide color gamut monitors (like DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB) down to the sRGB space. On a normal screen, it has nothing extra to restrict. What Happens If You Use It? No visual change: Your screen already matches the sRGB target. Clamping it again changes nothing or results in redundant math. Potential issues: Forcing a profile on a normal display can lead to slight color clipping, lower contrast, or incorrect gamma behavior if misconfigured. When to Use or Skip It? Skip the tool: If your monitor is a standard budget or office panel with roughly 100% sRGB coverage. Use the tool: Only if you own a wide color gamut screen where regular desktop colors and games look unnaturally oversaturated.”

If this monitor isn’t considered wide color gamut (99% rgb), I’m confused as to why i’m seeing a difference (and positive at that) with this tool enabled when it isn’t supposed to be doing anything (according to the ai result).

Hi fluidz,

The G2724D has a slightly extended gamut. It covers 99% of the sRGB colour space, meaning there are some shades there it can’t display. But that coverage reading cuts off at “100%”. It also has an sRGB volume which exceeds 100%, with reviews suggesting ~86% DCI-P3 coverage or a bit above (~108% – 115% sRGB volume). So some sections of the gamut don’t quite cover sRGB, whilst others extend beyond sRGB. This is reported in the EDID and used for sRGB emulation methods which read that, including novideo_sRGB.
