Hi Yxwagu,
Given your size preferences, budget and uses the Samsung S24E390HL mentioned in this thread and the recommendations section would be the main one to focus on.
February 29, 2016 at 3:31 pm #38100YxwaguThanks for reply;
but, there’s a little problem, I don’t like at all that monitor, in my opinion is very ugly.Is there something similar?
February 29, 2016 at 3:42 pm #38102PCM2That’s fair enough, I see that the styling would not be to everyone’s taste. The AOC I2481FXH would do the trick if you’re after something more ‘stylish’ but that would also work well for your uses.
February 29, 2016 at 8:56 pm #38106daveypHi PCM2 been a long time since i last posted on here but have kept up to date by reading most threads have just read through all the posts about eye care. I have a problem and ask if you or anyone on the forum would help me please.
At the moment i am using a Benq GL2460 a tn panel with flicker free and low blue light. After about 15mins using this monitor i start to feel sleepy and my vision gets a little blurred if i do not have a rest my eyes start to run.
We have a Benq GW2760HS in a downstairs room for dvd and youtube so i used the GW2760HS for a whole day with my pc and what a difference it made i had no eye problems at all after 8 hours 4 hours of gaming on Neverwinter online plus 4 hours reading forums.
Do you have any suggestions as to a 27″ or 24″ monitor with a little faster response time than the GW2760 as i think my GL2460 is faster when gaming.A 1080p monitor will be fine with built in speakers if possible.
Dont know if it helps or not but i have good eyesight do not wear glasses but i think i need to look after my 70 year old eyes more.
Thanks i advance for any help.February 29, 2016 at 8:59 pm #38108PCM2I’m sorry to hear about your obvious discomfort when using the GL2460, daveyp. It’s nice to hear you’ve been following the website despite not posting for a while, that’s what I like to see.
Are you using both models in a ‘Low Blue Light’ setting? Do you observe a similar sensation when using the GL2460 without this? The reason I ask is that blue light is an important stimulating signal for the body during the daytime and cutting down on this could have potential negative implications. If you’re essentially comparing ‘like for like’ setting or this has no impact on what you feel when using the GL2460 then it would obviously be something else. 🙂
February 29, 2016 at 9:57 pm #38109daveypThanks for the prompt reply as for the LBL mode on the GL2460 do not think it is the cause of my eye problem i have tried every combination of settings i can think of not just LBL but everything available in the Menu. makes no difference.
As for using the GW2760HS it seems no matter what i do to the settings it does not bother my eyes at all the only difference i can see with this monitor is the response time is slower than with the GL2460.
I would like to find out what is the cause of my problem so i don’t buy an unsuitable monitor .Does the GL2460 use dithering and if so could that be the cause.February 29, 2016 at 10:05 pm #38110YxwaguThat AOC is much better; about the Samsung I find the S24D590PL model that it seems to be like the S24E390HL, is it true? The unique difference seems to be the metalized look, and this is a little bit better.
Before I forgot to say that I want a matt panel.
February 29, 2016 at 10:19 pm #38111PCM2The S24D590PL is technically a bit worse than the S24E390HL as it has poorer (less accurate) gamma handling and worse responsiveness (more overshoot). But it’s still a decent monitor. It isn’t metal, though, it is plastic with a metal-effect as noted in our news article. Unlike the AOC, which is actually metal.
February 29, 2016 at 10:33 pm #38112YxwaguSorry, but I didn’t see that article; I know this site only a few days.
Can I ask you what you think about:
acer G247HYL
asus VC239H and VX239H
lg 24MP67VQMoreover lg seems to produce few monitor conversely it produces panels for the others producers.
February 29, 2016 at 10:59 pm #38113PCM2I’d recommend searching the forum for those models. If they aren’t mentioned then that’s because I have no opinion about them. I will have said something about the VX239H and probably the 24MP67VQ in the past. They are inferior to the Samsung models mentioned because the panel used isn’t as good. The AD-PLS panels have a lighter matte screen surface which makes a good positive difference.
March 1, 2016 at 9:31 pm #38114daveypHi PCM2 i have read again the 2 threads on here dealing with eye care it seems both the Benq EW2750ZL and the Benq EW2740L come out tops for eyecare.
I did enjoy using the GW2760HS with my pc plus as i said no eye problems after 8 hours of use.Would you tell me please are the 2 EW models a better more modern versions of the GW2760HS.March 1, 2016 at 9:46 pm #38115PCM2Sorry about that, I didn’t see your reply at the top of this page. The GL2460 does indeed use dithering, so it is possible you are sensitive to that. In any case it does seem to be sensible to stick to the VA models. If you find the GW2760HS a bit slow then you’d possibly find the EW2750ZL a bit slow. It is a bit faster, as noted in the review, but not really substantially so. The EW2740L is a bit faster at the expense of having overshoot (inverse ghosting). The image quality and viewing comfort of both is very similar to the GW2760HS, which is good.
March 1, 2016 at 10:50 pm #38116daveypThanks for the answer unless you can suggest an alternative to the EW2740L i think you have helped me decide.
I have one more thing to ask when i tried the GW2760 on my pc i did use the built in speakers i found them quite satisfactory for gaming .The speakers for the GW2760 are 2 x 1Watt the speakers in the EW2740L are 2 x 2Watt does this mean the speakers in the EW2740L are just louder than in the GW.March 1, 2016 at 11:11 pm #38117PCM2The wattage doesn’t always directly translate to volume. Generally speaking higher wattage will provide a richer sound output and sometimes more potential volume. You’ll probably find the speakers on the EW2740L decent if you were happy with the GW2760 speakers.
March 1, 2016 at 11:28 pm #38118YxwaguI was trying to establish a ranking:
1 samsung S24D390HL
2 aoc I2481FXH
3 asus VX239H, lg 24MP67VQand I find this: https://pcmonitors.info/benq/benq-gw2470h-with-amva-panel/
Better or worse for my uses?
March 1, 2016 at 11:30 pm #38119PCM2The GW2470H is potentially good for your uses, but be aware that its responsiveness is not brilliant. It’s a bit worse than the EW2750ZL in that respect. So depending on your sensitivity to this and the sorts of games you play it may not be as good as the IPS-type models for you. You may find this thread useful, too.
March 2, 2016 at 9:29 pm #38128daveypHi PCM2 having decided to buy a EW2740L i clicked on the link in your review got the Amazon page but the title on the page was EW2750ZL and yet the picture gallery was of the EW2740L.
If you go to the Amazon page by clicking on your link for the EW2740L or the EW2750ZL you end up on the same page.
I even logged of your site and went to Amazon through a web search then type in the name of either monitor you get the same page for both monitors just as before. So if i buy from Amazon which monitor will i be buying i reckon i could end up with the EW2750ZL which i don’t want.
Do you have any idea what is going on with this ad on Amazon.March 2, 2016 at 9:55 pm #38130PCM2I’m afraid that is an issue on Amazon’s end. They’ve done this before – it likely means that they don’t have stock of the EW2740L at the moment unfortunately. So it will be the EW2750ZL that it is redirecting you to. They sorted itself out after a number of days last time, but don’t worry if you have to get that model from somewhere else. I know that isn’t ideal re. return policies and not being able to support the site with the purchase, but I just want you to get the right monitor. 🙂
March 2, 2016 at 10:14 pm #38133daveypI won’t be buying from anywhere else but Amazon they seem to have a good return policy so am sticking with them even if i have to wait. What i don’t understand is why they would use pics of the EW2740L for the EW2750ZL advert.
If i have to wait to long i might just go for a 24″ model.March 2, 2016 at 10:25 pm #38134 - AuthorPosts
