Yes I think the VX2781-4K-PRO will be using a BOE panel as well. This news piece from TFT Central is the original source for the new 1152-zone Mini LED panel from BOE. At the time it was written (July 2022) it states the panel is expected to enter production December 2022. π
October 20, 2022 at 7:13 am #69700EsaTI guess there hasn’t been anything new about 31.5″ panel, which is shame.
That panel would compete directly against AUO’s panel giving more choise…
Assuming modern response times and properly working/tuned local dimming control.
Really any competition would be welcome. But anyway it looks like we can add at least half year to advertised start of production dates when it comes to ~32″ panels…
October 20, 2022 at 4:26 pm #69702EsaTOfficial/full product page for Tempest GP27U is up:
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/setup/monitors/tempest-gp27u/October 20, 2022 at 4:27 pm #69704PCM2Have linked to this in the news piece and clarified some of the specs that were initially uncertain. They stuck surprisingly close to the original prototype in terms of specs, which is nice to see. 97% DCI-P3 was upped slighty to 98%, 0.5ms vs. 1ms response time claimed, KVM functionality and full stand adjustability now confirmed. Oh and the 2 x 2W speakers are now 2 x 3W speakers. π
October 26, 2022 at 8:08 pm #69726KelloneI’m waiting for it in Italy, I hope it will be put on sale soon.
My two alternatives are BenQ EX2780Q or Samsung Odyssey G7 (C27G73)…October 26, 2022 at 8:31 pm #69728PCM2So you have a lower priced option, mid-price option and higher priced option (GP27U) in mind. I like your open-minded thinking. π I hope it becomes available for you soon as well, it’s really a much more capable screen for both SDR and HDR than the others you’re considering so is probably worth waiting for if you’re happy to pay the extra.

Too bad it isn’t 32″…Is Acer X32 FP really “dead on water” when it comes any information?
Almost like Acer has decided to can it and doesn’t want to say that.Well, maybe that 1152 zone BOE panel would be in production:
https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/boe-latest-panel-development-plans-july-2022
Even gamut should be comparable.
Though I wonder how BOE is doing in response times…October 27, 2022 at 9:47 am #69732PCM2The X32 FP is certainly an important release for Acer and hasn’t been abandoned. The panel itself and the initial production hiccups have been ironed out and they are still ‘perfecting firmware’ ahead of global release soonβ’.
October 31, 2022 at 10:06 pm #69754EsaTFinally someone included user adjustable overdrive mode!
Tempest GP27U has it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/yficb5/cooler_master_tempest_gp27u_response_time/Now let’s hope it also has refresh rate independent response time/overshoot behaviour of GM27-FQS.
If it has also that, older monitor brands are going to have to rise their game…October 31, 2022 at 10:09 pm #69756PCM2That’s great to see! They really seem to be pulling out all the stops with this one.
November 1, 2022 at 11:01 pm #69762EsaTWould be still better to see also 32″ high end models finally released to have more/proper choise.
It’s plain ridiculous how old response times tech panel of Asus PG32UQ etc was compared to 2560×1440 panels.
Hopefully also panel of Acer X32 FP isn’t basically couple years old tech when we finally have it available.Moving monitor closer could give same apparent size from 27″, but little more distance would be better for eyes.
(which have to work harder to focus at closer distance)
And with shorter distance/smaller screen, any movement in chair would have bigger effect to apparent image size.
(occasional changes in position/leaning back certainly aren’t bad for health of the back)Though unless Acer (or AUO) has entirely revamped overdrive modes, looks like Cooler Master would have clear edge there.
November 11, 2022 at 2:51 pm #69781odinmarks1988I wonder if there are any news of the Asus PG32UQXE since Acer X32 FP is still not available to the global market yet
November 11, 2022 at 2:53 pm #69783PCM2Unfortunately there isn’t. I last asked ASUS about this about 3 weeks ago and they confirmed it was still in the pipeline, but there wasn’t an exact ETA for its launch.
November 20, 2022 at 4:24 pm #69827EsaTAcer is sure keeping total EMCON/radio silence around X32 FP…
At this rate they’re going to have CES and what ever (likely paper) announcements happen there breathing on their neck.
Well, hopefully that would bring price down from original last CES era price. But I guess we won’t be seeing that much actually new developments for 3840×2160 monitors.
By now we should start getting “leaks” of any new monitors planned to be introduced during CES.November 20, 2022 at 4:24 pm #69829PCM2Yes, the silence is deafening as they say. π
November 21, 2022 at 6:00 pm #69838EsaTDoesn’t look that good for getting FALD monitors for Christmas so I guess my Dell U3014 having 9th birthday is pretty certain.
One shop with websites for many Central/Northern European countries has X32 FP‘s availability date still as 20.1 in Finnish site. (what it has been since early fall)
So just about right for doing re-announcement in CES…
Their German webshop site seems to have even removed X32 FP from product list. And neither has Tempest GP27U been really added into any product lists of the shops, including big European Geizhals price comparison.
Too bad LG didn’t (paper) announce 4K OLED monitor.
Maybe that would have gotten some speed into getting FALD monitors out…
Though I guess both LG and Samsung are still struggling with smaller pixel size.November 22, 2022 at 9:23 am #69841odinmarks1988For the Acer X32 FP, so far only China, Taiwan and HongKong stores show them with stock or out of stock, the rest of the world due to global supply chain issue, it is still not available
November 24, 2022 at 5:21 pm #69877EsaTLG is going to take pre-orders for 27GR95QE in 12th of December with estimated shipping starting in 28th.
https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gr95qe-bBut warranty is only one year, which sure isn’t promising for durability against burn in.
Well, LG OLED should have lower efficiency than Samsung QD-OLED leading to OLEDs being stressed more to produce same brightness image.November 29, 2022 at 10:37 pm #70132EsaTWell, looks like Acer X32 FP has new firmware:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/z62ul0/acer_predator_x32_fp_new_firmware_v009_on_the/Now if we could just find actual monitor outside marketing material…
Really starting to suspect we’ll get to see re-announcement at CES.December 3, 2022 at 12:41 pm #70162EsaTLG seems to have updated specs of 27GR95QE, including two year warranty, but apparently full screen brightness allowed by ABL is poor 120 nits.
https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/zamop8/lgs_worlds_first_240hz_oled_gaming_monitors_have/iymcepw/
Not going to have high hopes for endurance with that.Sure hope this fragile organic stuff SNAFU would be primarily discarded in R&D and most money put to more durable inorganic materials like electroluminescent quantum dots.
Manufacturers have been sinking money into OLED for dozen+ years and its still this kind lackluster.
Or maybe that’s the precise problem with those big salary bosses and marketers being not willing to admit that they’ve been advocating lost cause. - AuthorPosts
