when I want to inform a company about my feeling I wrote them directly.
start from facebook and twitter…
it will not change things but sometimes it works πas I said, I doubt that they will release a new firmware for this.
June 27, 2023 at 8:02 pm #73269furamaI decided to go with pg32uqx instead. It will be here by Friday, and i really hope the blooming and motion clarity wont distract me muchβ¦
June 27, 2023 at 9:18 pm #73271DegraderNice! Please let us know what your findings are once you have it!
June 29, 2023 at 8:17 am #73278sblantipodiI am trying to avoid buying Asus products since Asus in Europe has the worst customer service you can imagine
but PG32UQX should be a good monitor.June 30, 2023 at 1:13 pm #73282sblantipodiOk, I was a bit frustrated from the difficulties in switching from HDR/SDR on the X32FP
and I bought the PG32UQX to “upgrade/sidegrade” my X32.With very bright HDR contents/highlights PG32UQX is clearly superior to the X32, no doubt,
with average contents I prefer the X32. why?if I didn’t know the specs I would have said the X32 has more zones than the PG32UQX.
PG32UQX tends to have a lot of haloing due to the brighter bias algorithm,
and in some scenes it’s like if it has less zones than the X32 even if it’s the opposite.the unit I tried had a very silent fan, but the fan was clearly audible when using HDR contents at 27Β°C ambient temp.
this only is a deal breaker for me.leave alone the fact that the PG32UQX has a real slow panel when compared to X32,
to my eyes the PG32UQX is very comparable to the PG32UQ in terms of “motion clarity”.when switching from X32 to PG32UQX it’s like if you are acrivating the motion blur in the game…
I had much better expectations for the PG32UQX, I’ll continue my tests but for now,
the X32FP is the one that will stay on my desk longer.June 30, 2023 at 1:14 pm #73285PCM2Thanks for sharing your thoughts and a comparison between the two, it’s nice to see you got some hands on experience with the ASUS as well. π
June 30, 2023 at 1:47 pm #73287sblantipodiI’ll continue my tests, I’m obviously not a professional like you but I know my tastes π
I’ll update my findings later and let’s see if I’ll change my mind after I had tested more contents.
June 30, 2023 at 9:16 pm #73289DegraderNice! Which local dimming mode did you use? Mode 1 quadruples the zones in the same way as the XG321UG does in Mode 3. Mode 2 and 3 are the best for HDR content. Do you notice flickering due to rapid zone to zone transition, that should be especially visible in Mode 3 like the X32 FP with the setting Fast.
June 30, 2023 at 9:20 pm #73292PCM2June 30, 2023 at 9:36 pm #73293DegraderYeah, that was a bit vague of me π , but nice that you immediately understand me what I’m trying to say. So thank you for clarifying that!
July 1, 2023 at 7:14 am #73295furamaMy pg32uqx has arrived earlier today and i have been playing it for few hours. My impression so far: the response times didnβt bother me at all, i am using mode 2 for variable backlight, and the blooming is quite reasonable, not that distracting. Fan noise is very faint. Coming from X27, this is definitely an upgrade for me. I feel i made the right decision to have chosen this over X32 FP.
July 1, 2023 at 7:15 am #73298PCM2Glad you’re enjoying the experience and that it feels like an upgrade for you.
July 1, 2023 at 8:30 am #73299Degraderi am using mode 2 for variable backlight, and the blooming is quite reasonable, not that distracting.
That sounds that Mode 1 is not really an option for you, correct? Do you see flickering then?
July 1, 2023 at 12:21 pm #73301sblantipodiMode 2 is the settings I prefer.
PG32UQX is able to push more brightness in small scenes than X32 but there are scenes where I feel that it tends to overbright too much.
I sincerely don’t have a strong preference on one of the two. There are scenes where I like the PG32UQX more and scenes where I like the X32 more.
I expected more from double the zones sincerely. The bloom on the PG32UQX is much more noticeable when programming using IntelliJ.
The color of the ide stresses the bloom problem and the Asus monitor has clearly more bloom than the Acer.
The Asus firmware is much more solid than the Acer one without the glitches that the Acer one has.
The overdrive on the Asus works much better than on the Acer but even with overdrive off on the Acer, the Acer offers a more solid experience.
I still can’t understand why they even consider to put a fan inside a monitor.
There is room for big passive cooler, why use a small fan like that? The perfect monitor does not exist unfortunately.
July 2, 2023 at 8:47 pm #73325GroundReaper94July 2, 2023 at 8:53 pm #73329PCM2The PD32M is one to avoid, the local dimming algorithm is poor. The PG27UQ might be worth trying at that price, if returns won’t be an issue or you can sell at minimal if any loss as alluded to in my previous post on this topic. Given it is discontinued it’s presumably in used condition.
July 2, 2023 at 8:59 pm #73330furamaPG27UQ at that price is totally a steal, but not sure if it is brand new.
July 2, 2023 at 9:48 pm #73332Degrader@ GroundReaper94 where did you see the PG32UQX for 1400,- euros if I may ask? π
July 3, 2023 at 6:54 am #73334GroundReaper94Yes, all three monitors are used ones from eBay (Kleinanzeigen) Germany. π
In Germany, the PG32UQX cannot be bought in new condition anymore. It is out of stock everywhere. Only the used market is an option at the moment.
All three are in very good condition. The PG27UQ has normal (not very loud) fan noise but that is to be expected. Was a common issue back then with almost all PG27UQ models. The PD32M will be avoided then. Thanks for the warning @PCM2.
My current second monitor is the Coolermaster GP27U. I bought it new for 900β¬, but would not say no to a PG27UQ for 380β¬. It has some drawbacks (a bit slower response times, no HDMI 2.1, no DSC over DP and a bit lower brightness in HDR) in comparison to the GP27U, but I would save a lot of money and still get a decent HDR experience and office usage.
The PG32UQX would be ideal in terms of size and brightness, but suffers in terms of motion clarity and the price. Very hard decision indeed. πEdit: I could get the PG32UQX for 1150β¬ from a private seller in very good condition with the warranty still intact.
Should I seal the deal? π
I am so uncertain at the moment because I could not return the monitor, but could sell it to another buyer.
July 5, 2023 at 8:52 am #73341sblantipodiam I the only one who suffers from the PG32UQX blooming?
it’s massive on my PG32UQX even at 160cd/m2 (I use a colorimeter to calibrate the monitor at 160cd/m2)it’s very distracting on dark scenes or during productivity on software with dark UI
