Sirius ProjectsHi,
I’m new to the forum and I have a query regarding monitor sizes that I am hoping someone can help with.
I’m in the market for an ultra-wide monitor. I’m not seeking recommendations. I’ve just got an issue regarding the measurements.
Whenever I look at the specs for a monitor, it gives the width, height and depth. I’m not concerned about the width or depth. It’s the height that is causing me the problem. The monitor will sit on a desk that has a shelf above it. So there is a height restriction. When an advert gives the height as say 37cm, sometimes it’s not clear if that’s with or without the stand and if it’s height adjustable, does the 37cm relate to the total height from the base, when the screen is at it’s highest position or lowest position?
What’s frustrating is, there are no stores close to where I live that have ultra-wide monitors on the shop floor. If there were, I’d be able to see some of these monitors up close and take some measurements of my own.
I don’t want to go ahead an order a monitor without being absolutely sure that the dimensions will fit the space required.
Any help/advice you could offer would be appreciated.
Thank you.

PCM2Hi Sirius Projects,
It’s a good question, but unfortunately this isn’t standardised so it could be either at highest or lowest stand height depending on manufacturer. Depending on the model it may be possible to find more information on this on the manufacturer product page or perhaps an associated spec sheet. If not then the user manual (usually linked somewhere on that page or in the ‘support’ section of the website, depending on manufacturer) may give more specific guidance.

Sirius ProjectsThank you for the prompt reply.
I have done some further digging and did manage to find a manual for the monitor I am interested in, which did clarify my height query.
I will shop around before making a final decision though.
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks.
