Hi, thanks for your reply, I think I’m confusing pixel response time with input lag.
So in many ways the CQ27G2 is actually better. HDR would be a nice extra but I guess it needs to be at least hdr600 to be worth it. I also prefer the simpler look of the CQ. And all the other advantages you wrote make me think the CQ is better buy.The only thing that worries me if the brightness is not to low for daily usage when the sun is shining.
July 26, 2020 at 5:43 pm #60566PCM2As long as you have some control of lighting and strong light isn’t striking the screen directly, which should be avoided regardless of monitor brightness levels, most users will find 250 cd/m² more than enough to daytime use on a bright day. It is very individual though and depends on where the light is coming from and your own sensitivities.
July 26, 2020 at 6:29 pm #60567kadooshThink it should be sufficient indeed, there’s no direct sunlight. On my TN panel I almost always run it with brightness at 0 cause its so freaking bright.
Gonna think about it a few days and probably order it on Thursday.
Thanks a lot.July 31, 2020 at 4:53 pm #60633kadooshWell I tried it today but i did find the brightness pretty limited. I can imagine with the lower winter sun its dim so I sent it back. When the return is handled Ill order the qcx.
Shame cause the image quality was great and I really liked the the look of the screen itself.July 31, 2020 at 4:58 pm #60635PCM2That’s unfortunate, especially as you enjoyed the monitor aside from that. 250 cd/m² is still brighter than most users would need, they wouldn’t put the CQ27G2(U) at 100% brightness regardless of time of day or year. Everybody’s eyes and lighting conditions are different, though, so it can always be nice to have extra flexibility there. Hopefully the AG273QCX works out for you.
August 3, 2020 at 11:14 am #60671kadooshSo far so good, the AG273QCX is quite bright but now I do have a bigger range to adjust it to.
Other things I like is the remote and the build in speakers… maybe I can now finally get rid of my logitech speakers which I only use for youtube and such. There’s one dead black pixel but its in the top left corner so that doesn’t bother me, if i didn’t search for it I would not have found it.
Just one question, how do I turn on MBR? Can’t seem to choose it now matter what setting I turn on/off.August 3, 2020 at 11:16 am #60674PCM2Glad you’re enjoying the AG273QCX so far are are finding the brightness to your taste. You probably have ‘FreeSync’ enabled in the OSD, which would prevent MBR being enabled. As noted in the review and OSD video. Can’t think of another setting that would block it off, provided you’re running at a refresh rate that supports it (120Hz or 144Hz).
August 3, 2020 at 11:31 am #60675kadooshAh ok so with freesync on it won’t work. Just wanted to try it but freesync is quite important to me.
The mount is impressive by the way. Shame I won’t be using it and it [the included stand] is not vesa compatible.
August 3, 2020 at 3:27 pm #60677kadooshActually MBR is nice in cs: go where I get the needed frames… !
Thanks by the way for your support.
August 3, 2020 at 3:30 pm #60679PCM2No problem. Yes – that’s exactly where strobe backlight technologies like MBR come into their own. Solid and consistent high frame rates matching the refresh rate of the display. On competitive and easy to drive games like CS:GO. Glad you’re enjoying the monitor and getting used to some of the more ‘situational’ settings like MBR. 🙂
August 3, 2020 at 5:30 pm #60680kadooshAlso trying the HDR mode but it seems to force my refreshrate to 60hz, is that a limitation or something? Connected with a dp cable and rx 580.
August 3, 2020 at 5:32 pm #60682PCM2No, it shouldn’t be doing that. Enable HDR in Windows and check if 144Hz is a listed refresh rate in Windows. It might just be defaulting to 60Hz, but 144Hz should still be selectable.
August 3, 2020 at 5:48 pm #60683kadooshIt does show 144hz and I can select it and the screen seems to adjust to it even though the build in fps counter still show 60. When I go out of the window and back it it shows its on 60hz again.
August 3, 2020 at 5:49 pm #60685PCM2Might be misreporting. Should be obvious to you if it’s actually running at 60Hz or not. Go to TestUFO for example and see what that shows and reports.
August 3, 2020 at 6:58 pm #60686kadooshDefinitely running 60hz.. seems my (hdmi)TV is causing it to force it to 60hz when on HDR. When I disable it it works fine. Argh Windows 😉 .
August 3, 2020 at 7:06 pm #60689PCM2That’s an interesting observation you made there. I’ve updated this thread with your observations, as so far it was written from the perspective of running multiple displays of different refresh rates under SDR. But when you bring HDR into the equation it seems to upset things.
August 10, 2020 at 8:37 pm #60757ShadowN1Hello.
I have CHG70 32″, but unfortunately I need send it back to amazon due damage. I want spend up to 500 euros. I’m using my monitor for watching movies, playing games (sometimes fast FPS like COD MW) and rarely i’m using lightroom. I’m using my monitor at nights without any source of light so I’m worried about IPS because I have now CHG70 with VA. However I had few years ago Eizo FS2333 on IPS and it was fine in terms of blacks.
August 10, 2020 at 8:39 pm #60759PCM2Hi ShadowN1,
Some critical information is missing here. What size of monitor are you after and what did you think of the C32HG70, assuming you got to use it? If you liked it, why not go for a replacement (or is it out of stock?) Depending on your answers to these questions, your thread will be merged with another. There are plenty covering the options so this doesn’t really need its own thread with model-specific title.
August 10, 2020 at 9:19 pm #60760ShadowN1I’m looking now for 27 inches, because 32″ after 1 year of using is too big for my desk. I can get refund or repair, but if I find good successor I will go for refund. Im thinking about LG 27GL850-B, AOC AG273QCX or BenQ EX2780Q. As I said i want spend up too 500 eur.
In addition I will be it using probably with PS5 when in future.
August 10, 2020 at 9:24 pm #60768PCM2I’ve merged your thread with this one as it’s a suitable place. If you were happy with the Samsung aside from size, there’s no point in over-complicating things. Suitable alternatives are covered here and seeing as you like to use the monitor at night without any light sources they would be more suitable than IPS-type alternatives in my opinion. Especially the LG 27GL850 which is known for its weak static contrast.
My recommendation would therefore be the AOC CQ27G2, unless you’re drawn to the (basic but still there) HDR capability of the AOC AG273QCX.
