I’m glad you’re enjoying your Odyssey G7 experience with the new unit, aside from the niggling auto switching issue that has persisted. I suppose of all the things that could go wrong with a monitor, little firmware bugs or design quirks like that aren’t too bad. 😉
December 27, 2022 at 8:40 am #70269TaishoThere will be more 27″ VA competitors to Samsung Odyssey G7 soon. The gap is closing with the newest releases.
AOC AGON AG275QXN (flat panel), 165Hz medium:
I don’t like the green and yellow trailing behind the UFO and the black smearing for the middle row is more than I would like to see. Still, it’s an improvement to previous panels and not a small one.
From the footage and shots that I collected so far, Lenovo G27Q-30 is even better than AOC AGON AG275QXN in terms of response time. Hopefully, I manage to get a better-quality shot or footage than what I have at the moment, to present here for comparison.
December 27, 2022 at 8:46 am #70271PCM2That’s still significantly slower than the Odyssey G7 for the transitions shown and a bit slower than the Odyssey Neo G7 as well, for the middle row in particular. The bold trailing directly behind the UFO body is ‘potentially troubling’ there as it indicates significant weaknesses in pixel responsiveness which can be quite visible in practice. Typically there will be transitions that are performed even more slowly than for the transitions shown using Test UFO and unfortunately some people will find some of these weaknesses (may include some ‘smeary’ trailing) bothersome during gameplay and potentially outside of gameplay as well. It’s still a stronger performance than the AOC CQ32G3SU which I like to use as a reference for a ‘slightly above average’ VA performer, though, so it’s definitely good to see. 🙂
December 29, 2022 at 6:03 pm #70286PCM2Some interesting thoughts have been shared on the Odyssey G7 compared to an IPS model (Acer XB323QK NV) by forum member ex3cut3r, which I moved over to this thread due to the IPS vs VA angle.
December 30, 2022 at 9:04 pm #70289TaishoIt comes out that the response times of Lenovo G27Q-30 are significantly worse than AOC AGON AG275QXN. Video footage without white dots forming vertical lines can’t be trusted even as an approximation.
Lenovo G27Q-30 @120 Hz, max overdrive:
December 30, 2022 at 9:06 pm #70291PCM2Ugh, that’s unfortunate. Thanks for confirming, good to have an accurate pursuit representation that shows where the G27Q-30 sits.
