groolHi,
I couldn’t find a review of any of the 4th gen tandem panels, but I did buy one and I am experiencing either a problem or what is a panel limitation. In any case I’d like to turn to a professional, and this is the only place I could think of.
The panel itself is nice. HDR content is beautiful. Banding is fairly visible, but only on darker (dark gray, black). Not sure how much banding is ok, but for the moment isn’t the main problem. If I use Black equalizer of 12 or more it becomes more obvious. Overall good panel. However. I experience some kind of an uniformity issue. Specifically, when viewing brighter screens (either white or gray). The top left corner looks like with a reddish tint, the bottom right corner has a yellowish one on full white screens. When viewing on gray, the right side is lighter. While I know it is expected to some degree I find this really strange, as my LG C2 doesn’t have such a problem.
Anyways, I cannot get a nice picture with my phone where the uniformity is that obvious. When I was inspecting if the screen might be dirty, I noticed something odd. When the flash of the phone is against the top left corner, the reflection has a purple-ish tint to it. While when its on the bottom right, a more blue-ish one. The main problem is that I’m also using this monitor for productivity. If it weren’t the case, then I wouldn’t have any problems with it, but given I look at it at least 8 hours a day and the content is mostly gray or white it messes with my head. Staring at it in the center, ones peripheral vision “detects” the color difference and it isn’t the most convenient.
I now have run the monitor for 20 hours, and have done 5 pixel refreshes in total (every 4 hours).
I’m attaching a link of several pictures for reference. Pics
Any advice is welcomed.
I think I might end up returning it. The reason I chose W-OLED is the hope that its better than older generations and because I am in a well lit room, where the windows is opposite the monitor, to the left. So the left corner will reflect the window too much. I’ve also done all my testing in a dark room, same result.
I’m keen to get a QD-OLED but I don’t know how well I’ll be able to see it. Thats my only concern. Elevated blacks during the day – not that much, unless light also affects grays and whites. If it doesn’t I don’t mind it looking like an IPS while working.

PCM2Hi grool,
I can’t view the images as imgur blocks access from the UK, but uniformity issues such as those you describe are far more common with WOLEDs than they are with QD-OLEDs in my experience. It varies between units and not just models, so not all Gigabyte MO27Q28Gs will have this issue and certainly not to the same extent yours does. Trying again with that model could therefore be a possibility – and ultimately the only way to see if QD-OLED would work well in your lighting environment would be to buy one and test it out yourself.

groolThanks for the feedback. This morning when I sat down to work, and just couldn’t bare with it, so I packed the monitor and shipped it back. I’ll think if I want to try my luck a second time.
Whenever I want to pick a monitor, I always feel like its a more of a matter of how the stars are aligned, and not what you end up picking 😀
Nowadays, there isn’t many places where I can experience the monitor prior to buying, unfortunately.
I think this is the best picture I managed to get before shipping it back, and yet its almost not visible through the camera. Pic

groolSort of hijacking my own post here, but how bad would it be to run games in 1440p on a 4k monitor? I couldn’t find extensive info on the internet. Accrding to some, it will be bad as the pixels of 4K are not easily divideable by the pixels of 1440p (or something of the sorts). The reason I ask is, to be able to have a better productivity experience while alsi having a good gaming one without compromising performance

PCM2It depends on the monitor and its interpolation process, as well as any sharpness options the monitor includes which can help whether using GPU or monitor scaling. I always cover this when reviewing a monitor (but the same can’t be said for others). With DLSS and other upscaling technologies it’s generally easy to improve performance without running the monitor (or system) at a lower resolution per se and without the same amount of potential softening.
