Pfobosi was looking to buy m27up ice but it is out of stocks and i found g27up which is newer model but i couldn’t find any user review, on paper it is almost same with m27up other than G model doesn’t have KVM switch, USB-C and speakers, which i don’t really mind. What is the real difference between these 2 and would it make sense to wait for m27up stocks or go for g27up? I’ll mainly use it for gaming and just daily use, i’m also open to any other recommendations other than these 2 (preferably ips)

PCM2Hi Pfobos,
As I haven’t used the G27UP, I can’t provide a technical or in-depth comparison. But it is based on the same panel and should offer a similar experience overall. It is indeed the feature set that’s a bit different as you identified. And that they haven’t opted to go for VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification on the G27UP – so it’s really just a slightly cost-cut version of the M27UP. As I currently recommend the M27UP for gaming, I would extend that to the G27UP if it’s cheaper in your region and you don’t care about the lost functionality.

PfobosThank you for explanation, also i’m curious about something, i checked some mini-leds at first but only monitor in stock is AOC U27G4XM which is around 561 USD right now. I don’t actually want to use HDR because my eyes are sensitive to bright screen so that’s why i keep my current monitor’s brightness around 30. If i were to buy this monitor and not use HDR but adjust the monitor settings for SDR use accordingly, would i still get better image/colors than normal ips for example? i don’t have detailed knowledge about this kind of stuff so sorry for asking basic questions but my thinking is that i want to buy a 4k 27 inch monitor (because of my desk size) and forget about it for like 4-5 years and want my next upgrade to be 4k OLED. I believe at that time some OLED problems will also be fixed (hopefully). If you don’t mind, could you give a recommendation between these other ones i found?
AOC U27G4XM = 561$
Gigabyte G27UP = 415$
Philips Evnia 27M2N5901A = 405$April 4, 2026 at 4:02 pm #77804
PCM2I wouldn’t recommend a Mini LED model if you are light sensitive and want to use a lower brightness. Setting a Mini LED model to lower brightness minimises their key potential advantage (contrast). And because of the limitations with dimming zone vs. pixel count, the image balance can be upset because many medium shades will be dragged down so they’re dimmer than intended (this crushes detail and introduces inaccuracies). Or in some scenarios and depending on the local dimming algorithm used by the monitor, they can be brightened up too much which also isn’t what you want. Generally you’ll find the brightness levels less consistent and predictable compared to a stable manually set backlight, so again not great if you’re light sensitive.
The Philips Evnia model is likely based on the same panel as the Gigabytes and Philips generally tunes their IPS models pretty well. But I haven’t used it so can’t say anything more specific about that model.

PfobosThanks for clearing that up it was bugging me for a while. I’ll go with the g27up since it’s closer to m27up which i originally wanted.
