      Hello Everyone,

Is the Dell S2725QC/S2725QS o.k. for photo editing? It has 99% sRGB coverage; I am not sure if DCI-P3 colour gamut support like the ASUS ProArt PA278QGV has is needed. I am looking at the PA278QGV too but I am interested in the 4K of the S2725QC/S2725QS.

Yes, the S2725QC/QS would be fine for photo editing in the sRGB colour space. As covered in the review, it covers the sRGB colour space very well. The main issue is ~20% overextension, unless profiled or using sRGB emulation. The monitor’s own sRGB emulation mode is not very flexible (can’t adjust colour channels to rebalance white point, fixed sRGB gamma etc.) and on my unit was slightly overzealous with its clamping, though even with that accuracy was decent.

The gamma tuning on my unit was decent and not as wonky as I’ve seen on some other monitors, which helps if you aren’t able to calibrate the monitor yourself. And the monitor has good colour consistency, even by IPS standards, without any strong vignetting issues and suchlike. With that said it’s always best on this model (or any) if you can tighten things up further by fully profiling and calibrating using your own colorimeter or alternative calibration device, but for hobbyist work or where the absolute highest level of colour accuracy isn’t necessary it should be a good shout.

I am going to return the S2725QS as I suffered eye fatigue after using it for work. I think that the 4K resolution on a 27″ makes things too small for me, even when adjusting the scaling. I am looking at QHD now. Some monitors available to me locally are:

            Dell S2725DSM
            Dell S2725DC
            Samsung Odyssey G5 G53F
            LG UltraGear 27G610A-B.AUSQ
            ASUS – ROG Strix XG27ACMES
            ViewSonic – VX2728J-2K
            ViewSonic – VX2767U-2K
            LG 27U631A-B

I am looking for a productivity monitor so I don’t need gaming features. I prefer at least at 100Hz refresh rate. Do you have any recommendations?

If you have a ‘4K’ UHD model at 150% scaling, things will be the same size as on a QHD model. The viewing comfort issues may be down to something else, because scaling eliminates that as a factor. Assuming elements are scaling appropriately, at least. If you liked the monitor aside from the resolution, the Dell S2725DSM or S2725DC would make sense (with USB functionality being the distinguishing feature between both).
