      Hi!
First of all thank you in advance.

I am looking to buy a monitor for graphic design work, have been watching and reading a lot of videos and articles, now I am confused and my budget isn’t too high.

So I will be very grateful if you guys can suggest me a budget monitor for graphic design works that provides accurate color.

I need your help, please πŸ˜₯

      Thanks again!

        Hi Hasan,

Different people would define “budget” differently, but there are many models on the market that would fit the bill. The choice might depend on:

        – Exact budget
        – Size preferences
        – Resolution preferences
        – Matte or glossy screen surface preference (except for a very limited number of exceptions, most models have matte screen surfaces)
        – Whether you own your own colorimeter or similar device

In the meantime, it would be worth reading the general ‘budget monitor recommendations’ thread. Many of the suggestions there would apply in your case as well as most are IPS-type models with good colour accuracy potential. I’d at least recommend reading from this post onwards for some of the more recent recommendations.

I am really thankful to you, lots of love and respect

let me tell you my words according to the mentioned points

          #Exact budget
Well, my budget is up to $200

          #Size preferences
          21-24″ enough for me

          #Resolution preferences
          1920×1080

          #Matte or glossy
I am really confused because in some videos found that, glossy is best for color accuracy but I don’t have good light setup at the moment and the glossy monitor is a little sensitive in the sunlight issue so I really need your help to decide which one I should go for πŸ™

#Whether you own your own colorimeter or similar device
Currently, I am using HP laptop and don’t have any monitor at the moment but I used to use hp monitor for 5 months only

I am very very thankful to you!
please suggest me the best one according to the mentioned point

          Thanks again

In that case the recommendations in that post I directed to you definitely apply. As I’ve mentioned there there are many essentially very similar 21-24″ Full HD IPS models which would work equally well for your uses, really. You need to consider other aspects such as external features and brand. Which is why, coupled with decent all-round performance, I recommend the Dell P2419H as a good possible option on that thread.

A few notes. Screen surface does not really affect colour accuracy, that’s a bit of a misleading thing to say and I know some people like to say that. It has the effects described in our article, which I linked to in my initial post. A glossy screen surface gives a smooth and ‘painted on’ appearance to things, whereas with a matte screen surface you have a potentially grainy or layered appearance in front of the image. Some surfaces are better than others in that respect, as explored in our reviews and explained in the article.

A colorimeter is a device used which could verify colour accuracy, amongst other things, and make any required corrections. A device like that is a vital tool for those who interested in maintaining the highest level of colour accuracy from any monitor, regardless of how well calibrated it is from the factory. But it’s an additional expense and something to perhaps consider further down the road, the Dell I recommended is set up fairly nicely out of the box and you should just need to make a few OSD tweaks for decent performance. The more expensive Dell U2419H is an example of a monitor with particularly good factory calibration, including reliable sRGB coverage in the right mode – it’s a bit beyond your budget, though. The P2419H is pretty typical for sub-$200 models in that it has a little sRGB undercoverage (most reviews record ~97-98%) which isn’t ideal but perfectly passable really and won’t make a huge difference to the output.
