sblantipodiHi there,
Are there any updates on upcoming 4th-generation OLED monitors?
I’m looking to buy a new 32-inch, 16:9, non-curved monitor.
I would prefer to go for a MicroLED display, but it seems like MicroLED is never going to happen — so I’ll have to settle for an OLED instead. Are there any 32-inch 4th-gen OLED models expected to hit the market soon?

PCM2Hi again sblantipodi,
The “4th gen” QD-OLEDs currently on the market are the 26.5″ models, such as the ASUS XG27UCDMG and MSI MPG 272URX I’ve looked at. There aren’t any tangible benefits to image quality or performance over the “3rd gen” QD-OLEDs, such as the MSI MPG 321URX. Aside from differences attributable to the size and pixel density difference.
I’m aware of the layering and efficiency changes which are supposed to allow 30% higher brightness without increased burn-in risk for example, but there wasn’t any observable or recordable increase in brightness. Perhaps they’re being very conservative with their “HyperEfficient EL 3.0” architecture at the moment, or they’ve decided to decrease burn-in risk rather than increasing brightness at the same risk level (if that makes sense). It’s not something I can really measure or quantify. Either way, there aren’t currently any “4th gen” (or known future gen) ~32″ QD-OLED panels in the pipeline. Perhaps they’ll do some sort of new generation refresh of those next year.

sblantipodiThanks for the very informative answer PCM2, as always.
In this case I think that there are really no reasons to wait for a 4th gen currently…I’m going to get popcorn and watch your 3rd gen reviews again…
Thank you
