losttarnHi again :), I am asking on behalf of a friend. I suggested to him that he should target 4K downsampling, he will have a PC that can handle that, on a 1440p monitor. I’ve tested FSR myself and found 4K downsampling looks better than FSR with native 1440p, and for me I’ve decided I am okay with 10-30 fps loss for much cleaner graphics in games. If you disagree on this approach, or agree, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Additional monitor criteria I suggested to my friend..
– MiniLed, because I believe he will use it for more than five years (his current PC is a 1060 GPU and some old Samsung sync monitor). I saw the Innocn GA27T1M but availability of monitors seems to be all over the place. I may find a monitor at review section that looks good but trying to find them locally is another task by itself
– 1440p, this can be changed to 4K if there is good arguments for it. He has expressed he will be happy with 60 FPS, and I think 60 is not bad if you gain significantly on it in other areas.
– He wants IPS but perhaps he may be persuaded for a VA
– Would be nice with a sleek and nice “Apple”/HP 27er aesthetics (not white/silver colour but simplicity). Of course colour should be matte black for bezel and such, to diffuse light. I suppose colour can be ignored if again the monitor in question is excellent, would have to probe for more info from friend of his lighting environment.
– Budget <300€, potentially stretching to 350€ for an excellent monitor (great display, build quality, elegant and simple look etc), but mentioning 400-450€ monitors could be good incase of a sale.
– It would be nice to be able to have HDR if possible (within budget)July 6, 2026 at 8:21 am #77872
PCM2Hi again losttarn,
I must admit my own recent experience with Mini LED monitors is fairly limited, so I could only personally recommend the Innocn GA27T1M based on my own experience (which was certainly positive overall with that model). With that said, Innocn is a sister brand of Titan Army and KTC which will sell their own models that are very similar to this but may be priced more appropriately for your friend based on their region. And they might offer different aesthetics for the casing, which could be more to their liking. And there are similar models from the HKC group (which includes Koorui and Antgamer). You or your friend can use the GA27T1M as a “base of expectation” for other models sharing that panel. Which will be pretty much any of the 1152-zone 1440p IPS models – certainly any 320Hz+ option, but the lower refresh rate options should be similar except for responsiveness.
I think if you expand the search to other brands but keep that panel in mind, you’ll be able to find something that’s agreeably priced and hits the other points. Sticking with 1440p IPS likely makes sense based on your friends preferences, budget and expectations. Although I wouldn’t rule out OLED options if he isn’t going to be using it for productivity and won’t always be using high brightness HDR modes. I don’t think lasting >5 years without significant degradation is at all unreasonable for a modern OLED monitor used exclusively or mainly for gaming.

losttarnI mentioned MiniLed for two reasons, he hopes to use his PC/system for ten years, five years wasn’t accurate, and because the OLEDs I looked at in recommendation shoots past the budget. Again I looked for the GA27T1M, finding it locally for him, but I couldn’t (not even on Innocn’s own site). I was only looking at Innocn brand because of your recommendation. He looked at the Gigabyte M27UP that you recommended. I’ll look into alternative monitors as you suggested, for the GA27T1M. Thanks 🙂

PCM2Looks like a good option – I hope he enjoys it. 🙂

losttarnI am sure he will, might have flaws but at that price and with you having reviewed the similar display that is in the Innocn one it’s hard to say no to it. One thing that stands out is the LEDs behind the monitor:

It almost looks like it may be practical for bias light, so curious to see when he gets it. If you have any questions you want me to present to him, to shed light on the monitor (perhaps for future reference), I’d be happy to let him know and give you back answers. Of course I will report back in general of what he thinks of the monitor. Thank you very much 🙂
P.S I hoped you would share your thoughts on 4K downsampling on a 1440p monitor for games. Again I found when testing upscalers (XeSS/FSR) looked better with downsampling. I am a little jealous of the HDR and dual mode but the MAG 274QRF QD E2 has been good!

PCM2Yeah, it would be interesting to see how bright those LEDs can get!
I certainly feel downsampling can give a nice boost in image quality on a 1440p monitor. It can indeed counteract some upscaling quirks (which I find much easier to notice on 1440p vs UHD monitors, too). I know many people use DLDSR for this purpose and really enjoy it, usually in conjunction with DLSS. I do this on some games where I prioritise image quality over performance. Though I prefer an actual higher native resolution, the combination of downsampling or supersampling and upscaling can work well.
