PCM2, do you think it would be a good idea to get a 2560×1080 monitor with my RX580, and if so can you recommend any? Cheers

        Hi,

Another question if you dont mine…

I know the general recommendation is that 1080p on monitors over 24in can look a bit less than ideal, I was just wondering it this also applies to ultra wide monitors?

I only ask because I just read that the vertical height of the 29 inch ultra wide monitor has true vertical height of a 25 inch monitor. So i’m just wondering if it still advised that 1080p stay below 24in even on ultra wide monitors that have a true vertical height below the diagonal, or if I can get a 29inch ultra wide and have it look great?

        Cheers

I’d advise reading our article on the 21:9 aspect ratio which focuses on the experience on a 29″ 2560 x 1080 model. It isn’t as high as a 25″ 16:9 model, that’s overselling it. It’s a similar height to a 23″ 16:9 monitor and has a similar pixel density. Some users love this experience, others not so much. Personally I much prefer 34″-35″ UltraWides with a 3440 x 1440 resolution (or even larger and higher resolution screens), they’re a much better way of experiencing UltraWide. There isn’t really a high turnover in 29″ 2560 x 1080 panels and many are very similar and have been for quite some time in terms of performance. So I have little recent experience with 29″ screens, if you like the sound of that experience then many of the models are similar in terms of performance so you should focus on other aspects.
