Our review of the Samsung Odyssey OLED G60SD (G6) is now live. This monitor provided an exceptionally fluid experience, with its 27″ 360Hz 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) QD-OLED panel. As usual for the panel type it benefited from a very generous colour gamut (with good and flexible sRGB and DCI-P3 colour space emulation), excellent uniformity and exceptional contrast. Combined with very strong responsiveness including no perceived weaknesses in pixel responses and low input lag, it’s something of a gaming powerhouse. VRR flicker is a potential issue, as usual on OLEDs, but it’s very subjective and situational and won’t really hamper the experience for most people. I was pleased to see an incredible amount of setting flexibility under HDR – people often have quite different ideas of how they’d like their image to look under HDR and are usually very restricted. In this case there’s a plethora of useful settings to play with, though that can be both a good and bad thing.

I was quite impressed with the matte screen surface in terms of its exceptional glare handling without introducing obvious graininess or layering in front of the image. It is characteristically different to glossy and there are definite pros and cons to each, but I think many matte fans who dislike graininess will like this solution. It offset the QD-OLED lightening up and colourful tints in brighter environments to a degree, too. I also know some people will be fans of the sleek design of the screen, with a good amount of metal used as well as plastic for the housing. And the RGB LED lighting solution is actually visible from the front, though not as impressively bright as some such as Philips Ambiglow.
