Hello, im in need of a new monitor i’ve been working on a Dell U2722 QHD and i need to buy another one for a different location. While i do require high color accuracy, my work is mainly used online so i dont REALLY need adobe rgb coverage but it would be nice to have maybe, just in case? Also plan to do some video work in the future but im clueless on what i need for that.
My research so far got me to either PA278QV or the PD2705U – im not even sure of the 4k would benefit me since i’ve been working just fine on my QHD Dell. Also an offer popped online of a SW2700PT for around 230 usd which sounds tempting cause it’s suposed to be from the pro photo line. The 4k PD2705U i can get for 450usd and the PA278QV for 330usd.
My question is how different the quality in sRGB will be between these, if any? Will probably use a mac mini m1 if it makes any difference?
I realize its a very subjective choice but i’m not very familiar to the difference in ips panels and any info would help me decide (as a side note i do enjoy some gaming from time to time and probably the 75hz on the asus would be nice but i’ve been doing it for years on the 60hz ones :))
Also cost while not a huge issue its a factor since i have to buy a ton of new stuff for the new locationTy!

The general advice would be that if you’re digitally distributing photos that it’s best to stick with sRGB as that’s the common standard. If you’re viewing content on your own screens or you know they’ll be viewed on screens capable of a wider colour space then an argument could be made that strong Adobe RGB coverage may be nice. But ultimately you need to consider the lowest common denominator – that’s to say most screens are not capable of accurately displaying saturated Adobe RGB content and you should really aim for your photos to look their best under sRGB with that in mind.
The sRGB colour accuracy of both the PA278QV and PD2705U is strong and it’s a key reason they’re both recommended. It’s really the pixel density increase you’d need to consider and whether that’s worth an extra $120 is something you’d have to decide for yourself. A higher pixel density can certainly be of benefit as your photos will undoubtedly be high megapixel count images when you’re editing. It is indeed subjective and because the pixel density of a 27″ QHD model is already ‘decent’ this is more on the ‘nice to have’ than ‘essential’ side. As you said, you’ve managed fine with QHD so maybe if you have other things you’d rather spend the money on that would be good to stick to. Something I also notice as a sensitive user to such things is that the screen surface of the PA278QV is a bit less grainy than the PD2705U, though many will find either model just fine in that respect.
