Our review of the MSI MAG 321CUP is now live. This is a 31.5″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) VA panel with 1500R (moderate curve) and support for a 160Hz refresh rate. Although contrast was reasonable, it was weaker than I expected to see on my unit. The overall colour reproduction characteristics were quite good for the panel type, providing a fairly vibrant look overall and with the sRGB emulation setting worked as expected to tone that down (albeit with a slightly warm tint on my unit). The ‘connected feel’ and reduction in perceived blur due to eye movement were positive aspects of the 160Hz refresh rate, but pixel responsiveness was lacklustre and there were some issues with VRR flickering. Overall I feel IPS competitors like the MAG 322UPF have more going for them, but some people might still like the VA experience offered here and the ‘budget’ pricing will sway them.
