Are you really sure that this acer monitor supports DisplayHDR 1000? It sounds to good to be true, honestly. According to this site of Acer it only supports DisplayHDR 400.
June 19, 2023 at 9:15 pm #73106PCM2That’s a completely different model from the same series, the XV275U V not XV275U P3.
June 19, 2023 at 9:23 pm #73107DegraderWell, then it will be a very attractive monitor looking at the specifications for the price, indeed!
June 19, 2023 at 9:26 pm #73109PCM2Definitely, I was shocked when I saw the XV275U P3‘s listing and received the spec sheet via Acer Taiwan’s PM. They wouldn’t reveal information on pricing outside Asia just yet, but I’m hoping the low price translates well internationally.
June 22, 2023 at 8:45 pm #73174PCM2Our review of the Acer X32 FP (mentioned earlier in this thread) is now live. 🙂
July 29, 2023 at 10:00 am #73507PCM2It could still be some time before this is widely available globally, if the X32 FP is anything to go by. But a newer variant with twice as many dimming zones is now listed – the X32Q FS. Interesting to note that the design has changed and it now seems to include pivot adjustment plus features 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and 65W PD via USB-C. The X32 FP lacks pivot adjustment, features 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and 90W PD via USB-C.
August 10, 2023 at 3:39 pm #73641DatoQuestion to PCM2
Do you plan to review AOC Agon Pro ag274qxm from 2022 or a never model AOC Agon Pro ag274qzm from this year with 240 refresh rate?
They both have mini-Led backlight with 576 zones, I dont see very detailed reviews on the internet about this screens, very interested how they perform.August 10, 2023 at 3:46 pm #73644PCM2The AG274QXM is covered earlier in this thread, which I’ve moved your post over to. It has a poor local dimming algorithm and significant flickering issues. The AG274QZM is a possibility at some point, but I’ve got an extensive list of models to look at and I’m trying to focus on some cheaper models at the moment which have broader appeal.
August 10, 2023 at 4:44 pm #73646DatoAccording to tftcentral in april 2023 they realesed firmware update that enchance local dimming algorithm and now you can activate it in sdr mode.
PWM flicker of the backlight is present, but it is high frequency, undetectable by the eye.
Right now this monitor offered with discount for around ~550$, making it an attractive option.
Model AOC Agon Pro ag274qgm with g-sync module amd innoLED backlight was announced back on CES 2022, but never see the light of dayAugust 10, 2023 at 4:49 pm #73648PCM2User feedback I’ve received with updated firmware suggests it helps a bit, but doesn’t come close to eliminating the issues with its local dimming algorithm. I’ve also seen multiple users complain of visual discomfort when using that monitor, including reviewers with plenty of experience using bright HDR-capable monitors. That can’t be directly attributed to PWM as there are many viewing comfort factors, but even ~2kHz PWM will trigger issues in sensitive individuals and it is absolutely not the same as PWM-free or even several kHz range PWM. Feel free to try it out for yourself if you find the price agreeable – and if you do, your feedback would be welcome.
August 10, 2023 at 9:38 pm #73649DatoWhat are current or near future monitor options in HDR space?
Iam looking for 27″, QHD, FreeSync, QD-miniLED 500-1000 zones with VA or IPS panel
Price 500-900$ range
Found only monitors from CoolerMaster, KTC and AOC Agon Pro right now(August 10, 2023 at 9:45 pm #73651PCM2Progression and spread in the Mini LED space has been slower than I would’ve hoped, especially for QHD models. The Acer Nitro XV275U P3 is one to look out for, a budget 165Hz QHD VA option with 576 dimming zones.
February 25, 2024 at 10:37 am #75730PCM2Our review [video] of the Q27G3XMN has now been published. This really sets the standard for HDR on a budget, in my opinion.
June 19, 2024 at 5:59 pm #76056inasenseJune 19, 2024 at 6:02 pm #76061PCM2Hope you enjoy it! Feel free to share your thoughts when you’ve had a play with it.
June 22, 2024 at 7:44 am #76073VAIsKingMy CQ27G2U decided to die on me the other day, which makes part of me happy because I get to buy a new monitor, which is always fun. With OLED’s still having quirks like text rendering problems, burn in worries, high price, and the fact that I’m spending a lot of time doing productivity/desktop stuff, I think my best bet is a budget mini-led, in hope of jumping on the OLED train in a few years when they’re better/cheaper.
I’m also leaning towards the Q27G3XMN. Comparing your pursuit photography with the review you did of my CQ27G2U, the Q27G3XMN seems to be quite a bit faster. But it would be interesting to see you review the XV275UP3. In my region it’s priced the same as the Q27G3XMN, but it doesn’t have a 3 in the end; if anyone knows the difference please tell me.
October 24, 2024 at 8:09 am #76609JamesKHi Guys,
Ive been looking for a suitable monitor replacement for quite some time now although there always seem to be issues with almost every monitor being released.
A bit of background info i use my pc around 30% for productivity with the remaining 70% either gaming or consuming content. My office space has a good amount of natural lighting with great downlighting, I do not want to be limited to only using the displays with blinds closed and all lights off so being able to fight some glare is a necessity. My experience with oled is limited to my TV LG 77 G1, its great although is only really enjoyed with all the lights off and no natural light coming in at all. With this experience it has led me to beleive an oled monitor is not for me.
I have tested both the Samsung Neo G7 and the Samsung 57″ DUHD G9 G95NC both performed well i didnt have any major complaints with either of these monitors aside from the very aggressive curve which led me to return both.
Are there any offerings currently or in the near future that are bright enough for average office use, has true hdr and is flat. The one other option i have seen some reviews on reddit has been the LG 27GR95UM and reported great sdr and after the firmware update decent hdr implementation and at a good price point for me although this monitor has never been released in australia along with many other announced mini led monitors.
seems like there is a hole in the market for a flat 27-32 inch display offering the performance of the samsung neo g7 without major problems in the algorithm or needing a firmware update.
October 24, 2024 at 8:14 am #76612PCM2Hi JamesK,
I’ve merged your thread with this one as it’s a suitable place. You should consider the Acer X32 FP which some people really enjoy for its good ability to provide depth and atmosphere (especially for an IPS model). Or the brighter ASUS PG32UQX (and ViewSonic XG321UG which shares the panel). You might also find this thread helpful.
October 24, 2024 at 10:00 am #76618JamesKappreciate you getting back to me.
With the models which are available to me the Acer X32 FP is no longer available in australia aside from some ex demo units which id personally like to avoid.
The Asus PG32UQX and Viewsonic are priced at $4500 AUD which is a bit insane of a price point for whats on offer (unsure if its just me or you guys would agree)
The Acer x32qfs has recently become available at multiple retailers over here for only $999AUD but i cannot seem to find any single review online or it even on the acer australia webpage so im a bit unsure on this one.
The other budget options like the acer xv274kp3 and coolermaster gp27u seem to have a number of issues and people hoping for firmware updates.
are there any displays that offer the specs and local dimming implementation that we see on the samsung neo g7/g8 or are we no there yet.
Id mention the macbook pro miniled implementation and the ipad oled but it seems nothing will compare to those for quite some time.October 24, 2024 at 10:04 am #76620PCM2Progression in the Mini LED space has been painfully slow, with OLED being the main focus at the moment. It hasn’t completely stalled so I do hope we’ll see some better options next year. The X32Q FS would be expected to suffer similar issues to the other models sharing its panel and there’s some discussion in this thread. So the panel itself just isn’t all that good in my view and firmware tweaking will only do so much to optimise the experience with it.
You might still want to consider OLED models with a matte finish to the screen, such as the ASUS PG32UCDP. They’ll be more suitable for bright lighting environments than the glossy option(s) you’ve seen so far, though they don’t have the same sustained brightness capabilities as the Mini LED options.
