Hey PCM2, so right now i’m thinking of either going with a 49 oled or a 43 mini led screen(could do 50 too). Keep in mind this is mainly for work related task and some gaming. A lot of static screens all over the place. Teams, outlook, some other apps. The less tab switching and window opening i have to do, the happier i am 🙂 So the selection would be either the 49 Evnia you reviewed, or the 43 inch qn90d tv.

On one hand i would not need to worry about burn in on the mini led. SDR content would also be brighter, which is a plus in my case, since the room i’m in has a pretty large window. I like to work in natural light if i can. But it has no KVM or power delivery, which are all features i would use on a pc + laptop setup. Probably the one thing i always found the most annoying on oleds are the ABL dimming features, especially when working with documents, browsing, ect…

Man sometimes too much selection is a bad thing. I wish i could see both of these live somewhere. But i don’t think stores around me have both models on display. What would you do in my case ? And sorry for going a little off topic with this. I’m asking here cause you’ve always given good replies to me and to others around here, and i love the chill vibes around here.

No problem – and I’ve slightly modified the thread title to better reflect the new path, even if it doesn’t fully fit all the options you’re considering. 😀

I’d personally go the QD-OLED route, as indeed I have myself (smaller screens in my case, currently using the AW3225QF). I do a fair bit of productivity with my QD-OLEDs and Tim from Monitors Unboxed / Hardware Unboxed seems to be getting along well with a much more vigorous productivity workflow using a QD-OLED. You’d naturally be more careful than Tim and also not exclusively using for productivity. If you need it (hopefully you don’t) there’s also that 3-year burn-in warranty to fall back on.

As noted in the review of the 49″ Evnia, ABL behaviour in SDR shouldn’t be an issue. As with other QD-OLEDs without “unlocked brightness” (e.g. ASUS with ‘uniform brightness’ disabled) it’s very much on the mild side and shouldn’t be distracting. The lightening up of darker shades will be an issue in a bright room, but it really depends on the position of the window and isn’t automatically going to be bad. As explored in this thread. The 3840 x 2160 options will ultimately give you more vertical work space, but 5120 x 1440 is quite generous as well and can be wonderful for ‘side by side’ workflows with 3+ windows open.

Hmm thanks for that, i’ll check out Tim’s video too. Hey does the evnia you reviewed support multi client KVM. I noticed on the amazon page, the 240hz model specifically mentions that, but on the 144hz model i can’t find it(it’s in the product pictures). Maybe i missed that part on your review video. Are there any newer panels around, 3rd gen that don’t cost an arm an a leg and also support all the stuff that evnia does ? Well apart from ambilight, that’s just a bonus. My end game monitor is definitely this, but man it’s way too pricy… https://www.lg.com/ca_en/monitors/gaming/45gx950a-b/

The 49M2C8900L supports KVM – it’s just the lack of HDMI 2.1 and 240Hz support that distinguishes it from the “non-L” model. Just due to time constraints and testing priority it only got the briefest of mentions in the video review (I think it might’ve also been referenced in the conclusion). No newer or more capable models using the ~49″ QD-OLED panel come to mind. I mean other manufacturers have their own versions such as the recently released MSI MPG 491CQP, but that’s just a more expensive version of the Philips. It has HDMI 2.1 support but is limited to 144Hz maximum.

Alright that’s all i needed to know. Hopefully i can see some 49 in a store near me just to get a feeling for it. Did you ever use a 43 or a 50 inch 4k tv/monitor as a desktop PC solution yourself ? I still like the idea of that mini led tv. The 43 version would actually cost me around 100€ less then the Evnia would, and the 50″ version is around the same price where i am.

I’ve used 43″ monitors before, but not for a while (e.g. this Philips model). They’re larger than I personally like for productivity at a desk and are at the upper limit of what I’ll even consider reviewing. It would really depend on your viewing distance as well.

Well my desk is 80cm deep and i do plan on using an arm either for the 49, or potentially the 43 tv for example. Is your desk deeper or shallower then mine ? That would probably give me a good picture on what i can expect.

As noted in the linked review, my eyes were ~80cm from the screen when making those observations. The desk I was using at time of review is less deep than my current one (which is ~80cm deep). If I used such a large screen on this desk I’d put it up closer to the wall and my eyes would be a bit further away. You’d definitely be able to do that with your mounting arm, I was a bit restricted with my old desk.

Alright thank you. I plan on goin to a store near me today, so hopefully they have some such sizes on display so i can get a good feel for them. Will decide based on that. Tnx for everything so far.
