Hi, anyone here has tried the new 27GS95QE? I’m wondering if it still has the annoying CPC vignetting like its previous version 27GR95QE. I’m currently trying the Samsung G60SD Oled but find the pixel shift a little bit annoying.

For those unaware, CPC (Convex Power Control) selectively dims the screen from the corners and is described in this post with respect to the 27GR95QE. So it’s a feature ASUS OLED models have (called ‘Screen Saver’) but is behaviour that’s easy to disable and keep disabled on those. I’m not sure about the 27GS95QE at this stage, but their ‘Dual Mode’ 32GS95UE has the feature so there’s a good chance the 27GS95QE has it as well.

I’d also advise trying to use the Odyssey OLED G60SD a bit more to see if you can get used to the pixel shifting. I’ve used many OLED models and when I first started using them, coming from LCDs, I found the pixel shift behaviour a bit odd. Now I barely notice it on most models unless the algorithm is particularly aggressive. It would’ve been nice if you could modify the behaviour on the Samsung, but I have to say I’ve received quite a lot of positive feedback on that model and people generally find the pixel shifting fine. If you switched to the LG you’d also be giving up some of the overall vibrancy from the colour gamut, significant colour volume in HDR and you’d have a matte screen surface that offers worse glare handling as well as more graininess. Of course there are some positives in making the transition as well, but I would advise giving the Samsung a fair chance given it’s possible to get used to its pixel shifting.

Thanks for the Info, it’s sad to know that the 32GS95 actually have that function as well. I’ve actually been using the PG27AQDM for nearly a year and I never notice the pixel shift even it’s set on medium. The pixel shift on G60 is bit more aggressive than it. But I think the text fringing on Qd OLED from G60 look better then WOLED using the better CleartypeTuner. For the Matte yes I ‘ve found Samsung lot better when using it in a very bright environment. That’s weird because The PG27aqdm (as well as LG) have actually a more aggressive matte surface. And the Appearance from Samsung looks better as well. The good thing about the ASUS is that you have full control of all the Panel Care features, which no other manufacture could have done. I managed to find an open boxed LG and it’s arriving tomorrow. Will report if it has the CPC here.

Yeah the Samsung’s matte surface is interesting as it’s definitely smoother (less ‘aggressive’ in that respect), but it also offers significantly stronger glare handling and diffuses light significantly more (so more ‘aggressive’ in that respect). They definitely missed a trick by not including more customisable OLED care controls for those who like to tweak such things. I look forward to your findings on the 27GS95QE and whether it does indeed use CPC.

Hi, I received the LG GS95 and notice the CPC no more better than GR95. Very sad because I really want to keep it since LG offers in Germany Burn-in Guarantee while samsung does not. One thing I don’t notice before is that the Pure White looks bit dirty on the WOLED panel. I don’t know if it’s because the matte surface or the RWGB pixel layout. Anyway I will just keep the G60 and hope they can add that pixel shift toggle in later firmware update(which is not likely to happen:(

Ah that’s disappointing to see, but thanks for the update. 🙁

And yes, the dirty look is the graininess of the screen surface. It becomes very noticeable if you’ve used a model with much smoother finish to the screen surface for a bit, such as the G60SD. I too would love to see a new firmware on that model (at least it has firmware updates) to add more flexibility with the pixel shifting, but won’t hold my breath.
