Found this forum through searching for CPC. I just bought LG 32GS95UE, which Amazon in Europe had for 1200 Euro. Very nice deal. But the CPC is crazy, making the monitor completely unusable for visual work (CGI, Photo Editing, etc..). With Peak Brightness OFF, the display should feature constant +/- 270 Nits in SDR desktop while in Gamer Mode 1. Well, the CPC will make the corners into damn 100 Nits.. what on earth? Why do almost no reviews mention this? You only need to open Photoshop, and start editing photo in middle before you notice 60perc. of your display is at half the brightness.

Does the Asus have CPC (Convex Power Control) just like the LG? I just bought the LG and with all OSD ABL stuff off (so constant brightness +/- 270 Nits) the CPC still makes incredibly noticeable vignetting making any graphic work impossible.

I’ve found out Asus implemented some form of CPC into its screensaver feature, but that can be turned off fully, unlike LG’s CPC, which can only be turned on temporarily with professional settings.

Please let me know anyone who knows. CPC is not publicly anywhere in manuals of either brand and talking to their support was fruitless. They don’t know :- (.

Hi Juraj,

Fortunately the ASUS PG32UCDP doesn’t enforce any sort of CPC-like behaviour – I’d definitely cover it in the review if it did as it’s very annoying behaviour. The ‘Screen Saver’ feature of the ASUS is tied to that sort of behaviour, but can easily be disabled as you identified.

Thank you so much PCM2 ! I find it odd how I would never learn of this if people didn’t quote your post from this forum and even then it’s just few google results.
I read all the big names like TFT-Central, RTINGS,etc. before buying and didn’t see this mentioned once. Until I bought it and thought my eyes are deceiving me :- ).

The Asus seems to be on pre-order in Europe for 1600 Euro (and ugly design…). Oh well. Returning this to Amazon first thing on Monday.

I was hyped like kid at Christmass for finally being able to work on OLED as my desktop monitor (the JOLED-panel based U95 was bit too expensive, and I wished for higher refresh rate now that even calculators have it..) and my disappointment is immeasurable :- ).

No problem – and I can definitely understand the disappointment. It might be worth looking out for the Acer X32 X3 which is taping out and should be priced a bit more competitively than the ASUS. But it also has an aggressive ‘gamery’ design. And though I didn’t test it myself, I’ve seen reports suggesting their first generation model using an LG Display WOLED panel (X27U) had CPC or similar which couldn’t be disabled. That doesn’t guarantee the X32 X3 would, but it’s unfortunately possible. Maybe waiting for the ASUS to come down in price a bit and fitting it to an alternative stand by 100 x 100mm VESA would be an option.

Asus stuff is quite often paper launch in Europe with not that many units shipped, so it most likely has higher chance of selling out than coming down in price :- ). Now Acer almost never even materializes to Europe, I’ve been eying those 2 years ago when they had cheapest 144 4K 32″ Mini-Leds, but they never came for most part.
I have nice clean Ergotron arm, but you still walk around your table and chance upon the hideous backside :- )

I think that ACER looks lot more decent than Asus, and has no (well, almost) chin logo.

Not gonna wait another year, I’ve been on bland 32″ 4K IPS panels for so long I’ll order the Asus 5 minutes after I fill the return label on LG.
