      Hi everyone,

After countless hours of research for a solid value QHD 27-inch PC monitor in the $200-$300 range, I’ve narrowed my choices down to two monitors:

BenQ PD2705Q (I found it for USD 280)

Asus PA278QV (I found it for USD 230)

I plan to buy two monitors primarily for work (productivity & working from home) and photo editing in Lightroom.
Color accuracy and image quality are very important to me. I want something professional, solid, and reliable.

I might do some occasional gaming, but that’s not a priority at all.
USB-C is a nice to have but I plan to get a Hub to connect all my accessories (monitors/hard drives, etc…) so I don’t know if it’s important

I came across the two reviews

      BenQ : https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/benq-pd2705q/
      ASUS : https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/asus-pa278qv/

They look similar in term of performance and I would like to know the decisive point that would make me chose between one of 2

Do you have any recommendations, insights, or experiences that could help me choose between these options—or suggest another monitor that might be a better fit?

      Thanks in advance!

        Hi kleiver,

Both models would be suitable for your usage and I’m sure you’d enjoy either. What makes the ASUS PA278QV stand out would be the bump up in refresh rate from 60Hz to 75Hz. It’s a nice little bump even when you’re just interacting with applications on the desktop, in my view. Though I’m used to higher refresh rate monitors so I’m very sensitive to that kind of thing. Looking at the review samples I tested, the ASUS PA278QV also offered superior out of the box colour accuracy to the BenQ PD2705Q. My BenQ unit had some issues with gamma tracking, though not all units would have that issue and I might’ve been a bit unlucky. If you’re able to calibrate the monitor yourself with a colorimeter or alternative device this wouldn’t matter either way.

What some people would like about the BenQ is that it is truly ‘flicker-free’. The ASUS uses high frequency PWM as noted in the review. Most people will be absolutely fine with this and find the ASUS perfectly comfortable, but it’s still worth considering.
