Wanted to update this thread as I have been using the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B for a while now. I was worried that I would find the lower brightness cumbersome but I feel like the monitor is “just right” in terms of brightness, so the monitor has been very nice so far! No burn-ins/severe image retention yet so hoping for the best!

I tried the service remote and disabling CPC is actually noticeable and makes it even better. However, what I have noticed that if you enable “AGING” on the monitor, I noticed that the monitor didn’t ask me to perform image cleaning as I turned it off.
However, as soon as I disabled “AGING”, it asked me immediately to perform an image cleaning once I tried to turn off the monitor. Also, another thing that I noticed was that the “Ultragear boot-up animation” for the monitor disappears when “AGING” is enabled.

Just wanted to inform any person that is currently thinking about getting the service remote in order to disable CPC, due to the fact that it might have consequences in the future if you forget to run the image cleaning.

I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the LG and your feedback here is appreciated! That’s an interesting observation regarding the cleaning cycle not running automatically with ‘AGING’ enabled. I haven’t used the monitor since the review really (have been using my AW3423DW) but will be using the LG again shortly and will see if I observe the same. Would definitely be an important consideration if it does indeed disable the automatic image cleaning, it would definitely be something to ‘schedule in’ manually in that case and something that I will mention in the review.

I’ve made the following amendment to the review to share my findings related to CPC and certain restrictions when using it (thanks VirtualBoost for the heads-up):

The monitor will not automatically run its cleaning cycles with ‘AGING’ set to ‘ON’ (prerequisite for CPC), so they should be periodically run manually. It will not give messages to say the cycle is complete or hasn’t been completed – the ‘hexagon lighting’ will cycle various colours when the cycle is active and stop when complete. The ‘DEBUG module OLED’ section of the service menu shows how long the monitor has been in use since the last ‘Image clean’ (recommended after 240 minutes or 4 hours) and ‘Pixel clean’ (recommended after 30,000 minutes or 500 hours – around 2 months with 8 hours per day usage) cycles have run.

          – If you run a cleaning cycle, power off the monitor, it loses power because Windows sends it to sleep (‘Turn off display after’) or because a signal is lost CPC will re-enable itself. We found the setting remained enabled if the system was shut down for a brief period, perhaps under an hour.

Based on a recent review by Monitors Unboxed of the Acer Predator X27U, they recorded a 136 nit maximum full screen white. And there is no way to disable its ABL behaviour. HDR brightness is fairly similar to the Corsair and LG models. As standard for Acer models, HDR activation and deactivation is not automatic and you need to specifically enable the HDR preset. They really shouldn’t have to be promoted to adjust this sort of annoying feature in a firmware update (as they did with the X32 FP), it should be obvious this is an annoying quirk that most models from other manufacturers don’t suffer from. Being an OLED, at least you don’t need to worry about a locked overdrive setting with Adaptive-Sync enabled!

I have the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 and as I only use Windows with Brightness Stabilization on, the vignetting effect of the CPC is turning me crazy. I can’t return it, as I live abroad, so I’m stuck with it. Is there any way to get to the Service Menu? It doesn’t use a remote, so I guess I can’t use the Mkj39170828. Please help!

I’m afraid I’m not sure how you can access the Service Menu on the Corsair and whether that could assist with changing how ‘Brightness Stabilization’ behaves. Maybe somebody else could chime in. I didn’t realise the ‘Brightness Stabilization’ featured added a similar effect to CPC on the LG, that’s interesting and I appreciate you bringing that to my attention (and for others reading this thread).

I just want to disable CPC. This is my Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 with CPC activated in the top image (after normal Windows use) and with CPC deactivated in the bottom image (after viewing a 100% white background for a minute). This is with Brightness Stabilization ON, that almost totally disable ABL.

I know, but it may not be possible to disable ‘CPC’ or similar on the Corsair. It could be an innate part of the ‘Brightness Stabilization’ algorithm in this case and there may not be a useful option in the service menu to correct that. I will ask some of my contacts and see if they know more about this.

If anybody came from a ‘4K’ UHD model to one of these OLED models, please feel free to share your thoughts in this thread.

Hi, I ‘m returning my LG Oled and buying a new ASUS Oled due to the annoying CPC effect on LG. However, I found that the CPC also came alone with the new firmware of ASUS (104), I don’t know why they add this effect to it not even mentioning in the update log. Maybe it’s some effect that prevents from burn-in? Since LG just announce that they will also cover two years of Burn-in Warranty in Germany, I will most likely switch back to LG:(

It’s my understanding this behaviour on the PG27AQDM was tied to a change in what the ‘Screen Saver’ feature does, as of firmware MCM104. It appears to have added this CPC- like behaviour, but you can disable the feature easily so it shouldn’t be an issue.

That really works! Thank you:) I can now turn down the Brightness to 60 from 75. The Lg could really be a good monitor regarding its full speed hdmi2.1 and I really like how it looks like(I can personalize the color as well) I really can‘t see any benefit using the CPC technology.
