Our review of the AOC AGON PRO AG276QZD2 is now live. This is a 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) QD-OLED model with glossy screen surface and 240Hz refresh rate. The monitor was calibrated well under SDR and brought the usual QD-OLED experience with strong contrast, colour reproduction and responsiveness. HDR was relatively well-tuned on the ‘gamma’ (EOTF PQ tracking) side and provided a dynamic experience, but it required some intervention with Nvidia Digital Vibrance to boost up colours. Without that colours were significantly undersaturated due to underextension of the requested gamut, whether that’s sRGB, DCI-P3 or Rec. 2020. This would unfortunately apply on consoles and AMD GPUs where there isn’t a gamut-expanding option under HDR like Digital Vibrance. Although balance with the Digital Vibrance tweak wasn’t perfect, it’s at a level that most people would be very satisfied with it and make the monitor very enjoyable for both SDR and HDR usage.

An interesting comparison to draw is with the Samsung Odyssey OLED G60SD (G6) which we’ve also reviewed. That model has a matte screen surface for superior glare handling (at the expense of ‘hazing’ from ambient light and some layering in front of the image), 360Hz rather than 240Hz refresh rate and supports HDMI 2.1 which is lacking on the AOC. It also offers a huge amount of flexibility in the OSD under HDR, which some will like but could be overwhelming for others – still, some of that would’ve been useful on the AG276QZD2. Maybe they can tighten up the HDR calibration with a future firmware as that can be updated. The AOC is generally slightly cheaper and is certainly aggressively priced in various regions throughout the EU and in the US.
