    You can adjust brightness according to preferences, that doesn’t affect calibration performance. And I can’t see anything out of place in your image. Firefox uses grey rather than black for anything but the domain name itself in the address bar. Also make sure you run through the ClearType wizard.

    jeez – that’s a simple explanation (I use Explorer but it has the same effect). (I wondered if I messed up something when playing with the menus – well – not to proud to admit mistakes).

    All of the text I now found unclear is “intended” to be grey. I am quite certain this was not so visible with the old monitor (i.e. all text used to be blacker). I can hardly blame the monitor for this 🙂

    I did run the Cleartype wizard and have “game mode” – off.

    Yeah, it’s more noticeable on monitors with stronger contrast. 😉 And yes, please do stay clear of ‘Game Mode’ (or ‘lame mode’ as I like to call it).
