Hello everyone, so I have a 7900 xt and I want to buy a monitor to pair with it but in my country I don’t have many options atm. Monitor stocks are weird right know I don’t know why.

I actually ordered G7 Neo because of that frustration but now I am questioning it. Why? Because firstly, it is expensive, secondly I wanted to buy a 1440p monitor. RX 7900 XT is capable of pushing around 100fps at 4k with games like Warzone/Forza/Halo, but when you play games like Cyberpunk or Dying Light, it is around 60 and I think that’s lowest it should be, it made me uncomfortable for future games. FSR 3 could be the solution for that fps problem or not, we don’t know yet.

So my options; most expensive to cheaper, MSI MPG341QR, AOC AQ275QZN, Gigabyte M34WQ, LG 27GR75Q-B, ASUS VG27AQA1A. I really want the MSI but there aren’t many reviews for it and it is $25 25% more expensive than M34WQ.

      I can’t find M27Q, M27Q X, G7, 27GR and such brand new atm.

        Hi Faun,

I can understand your hesitation with respect to the ‘4K” UHD resolution and how demanding it is for some games. I have a mid-high end GPU myself (Nvidia RTX 3090) which is a bit slower than the 7900 XT for that resolution if I recall correctly. But supports DLSS which works well on some games, such as Cyberpunk, where it’s really a “go to” setting in my opinion. Whether FSR 3 will work as well is indeed an open question at this point. Taking this out of the equation and considering games like that where reducing most visual settings does too little for performance, have you tried running these games at a reduced resolution such as 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p)? The interpolation process used by the Odyssey Neo G7 is ‘OK’ at that resolution, I found increasing ‘Sharpness’ to ’68’ also helpful. Then again, even if it was as sharp as a native QHD model of the size (it isn’t), you don’t have the same pixel density as the other options you’re considering. Though you do still get to enjoy far superior HDR if that is indeed something you make use of.

Of the models you’ve selected I don’t really have particularly strong thoughts on most of them or a great deal of user feedback to share for that matter. I agree that the MSI MPG341QR and Gigabyte M34WQ are the most interesting models. For the sorts of games you play I feel the 34″ 3440 x 1440 experience can be very enjoyable and it’s something I enjoy myself on my AW3423DW. The Gigabyte and MSI are based on the same (or very similar) BOE IPS-ADS panel as one another, was there any particular reason you preferred the MSI? The HP X34 and Acer XV340CK P which I’ve recommended are also based around similar panels, but they lack the wider gamut backlight of the MSI and Gigabyte. Overall the performance is pretty well-balanced in terms of its colour output and responsiveness as well as contrast for the price. If you’re even slightly sensitive to poor pixel response times or dislike VRR flickering and don’t mind or perhaps even want a flat rather than curved screen, I really feel these models are better options for gaming than the VA alternatives (relevant thread).

Thank you for your reply. I had forgotten how annoying picking a new monitor is. I picked my pc parts in couple hours but for the monitor I’ve already spent two days researching.

Also another reason I forgot to mention on why I am thinking returning my Neo G7 is that I have Sony 55XH9096 (55X900H) in my room. It is a good 4K 120hz TV with FALD. I can use that when I want 4K HDR experience. It’s only con is that VRR option disables FALD, so I can’t use both at the same time.

I would like to have an OLED monitor but they are even more expensive than Neo G7. I just can’t justify their price atm, maybe I could If LG 27GR95QE was in stock 😀

For me, going from Ultra or whatever the highest setting to high is ok, but going lower than that would make me think why did I even buy this expensive gpu.

HP X34 or Acer XV340CK P are out of stock. By the way MSI isn’t $25 more expensive, it’s 25% more expensive than the M34WQ. I wanted to go MSI since my motherboard and psu is MSI, but for that price difference it doesn’t make sense right? I just wish Gigabyte would ease up on the branding at front of the monitors. Hideous!!

Have corrected the $25 to 25%, the percentage sign got knocked off your initial reply so I wasn’t sure. The “GIGABYTE” logo is pretty in your face, though that’s unfortunately not unique amongst gaming monitors in particular (I say that staring at a large “PREDATOR” logo on the X32 FP I’m currently using). The more blended MSI logo is indeed a nicer approach. I guess you could cover the Gigabyte logo with some tape or colour it in somehow if you’re feeling creative. Not that you should have to butcher the monitor in that way.

It is tough but I guess not impossible to justifying going for the the MSI instead, with it being 25% more expensive. There’s the styling and more blended logo being more agreeable, but based on what I know from other models with similar stand designs the MSI will also be a bit better built with a more ‘solid’ feel to its base in particular. The Gigabyte is perfectly functional in that respect, but I always find the bases used for their ‘M’ series models very ‘plasticky’ feeling as they’re hollowed-out plastic with a metal backplate.
