i read the article Factors Influencing PC Monitor Viewing Comfort but i’d like to know something else about the ideal screen size.
I have typical average presbyopia of 45/50yo people (i use glasses only for close reading), but strong distance vision (my “medium” distance vision is fine too).
Currently i sit at around 70 cm from my Full HD 24 inches TN, and it’s comfortable.
The total depth of my desk is around 70 cm (the surface where the keyboard and mouse are located is extendable, so the total is around 1 mt).
Aside all themes explained in the article, out of your eventual experience, could be a 32″ more helpful than a 27″ for ease of reading?
Or it could anyway add eye strain because of the too large size, at 80-90 cm away?May 1, 2023 at 12:04 pm #71457PCM2A ~32″ screen would give you more flexibility to sit a little further back from the screen if you wish and that can be useful if your vision issue is presbyopia without issues with your mid to distance vision. I don’t think you’d find the extra distance a problem in terms of readability or eye strain given your eyes function well there. But because you seem to be able to read information well on your current monitor from 70cm, I think you’d adapt to a ~32″ screen at that viewing distance as well. I’ve certainly had plenty of experience using screens of that size from ~70cm and I didn’t find them to be overwhelming or in any way uncomfortable. Coming from a 24″ monitor there will definitely be an adaptation period and the larger screen will seem large and perhaps overwhelmingly so at first, but I’m sure you’ll adapt to it given a little time. So in short, I feel you’d have a bit of flexibility with viewing distance even with a ~32″ screen.

As you probably remember my ideal monitors seem to be the EX2780Q and the G273QF,
but at this point i could consider the Odyssey route for 32”.
Anyway i’ll look around for IPS 32” options too, excpet that the two 27” above may still be fine for me. I’ll look around try some in person in the stores 🙂May 2, 2023 at 3:36 pm #71473EsaTIn case of Samsungs remember that many of them aren’t just curved, they’re bent double:

Though 2560×1440 would have basically same pixel density.May 4, 2023 at 6:53 am #71498Pilloyes, thanks for these info. The 32/qhd density could be fine for me, but actually my choise is EX2780Q , i’ll buy it soon.
I could get used to the 1000r and so on, but the whole thing sounds me weird (and expensive) - AuthorPosts
